Our Adoption Timeline

Oct. 2011
Received a phone call inquiring if we would be interested in adopting a baby girl.

Nov.2011
Adoption Month at church (very eye opening)

Dec. 2011
Find out the mother wanted to keep her baby girl...excited for this baby girl, but God had opened our hearts to the idea of adoption...so we continued to pray.  In the middle of a sermon at church the name Isaac and Isaiah came to me....making me wonder if my husband liked either of these.  He quickly replied that he was not even going to discuss names until we look further into the entire process.

Jan. 2012
We feel called to inquire about adoption in Africa through a local adoption agency.  Have a meeting with our social worker to find out that there is one little boy in the age range requested....and his name is Isaac!  Chad and I looked at one another and could not believe what we were hearing....we left with applications in hand.

Later that month we began to worry about how we would finance this adoption, or even begin to finance this...but my husband continued to remind me that we couldn't finance this but He could!  My hubby was in a car accident during this time frame and I couldn't help but to thinkg....great, we can't afford to fix the car and to pay the homestudy fees.  Low and behold, the check received in the mail from the accident was the EXACT amount needed for the beginning of the homestudy.  It made me feel thankful for God's plan and realize that He will use all things for good and He really was taking care of this!

Feb. 2012
By the end of this month our homestudy was complete...yes, the entire homestudy was COMPLETE!!! All we had left to wait for was our finger print appointment.

March 2012
Receive our finger print appointment in the mail, scheduled for spring break (I was worried that I might have to take off too many days from teaching school...God certainly took care of my worry, once again!)

April 2012
Complete our finger prints AND get updated pictures of Isaac as well as his weight.  We mailed off our care package of toys for the children in the orphanage, a photo book of our family, and a comfy blanket.  We wait to find out from the attorney our court date!

May 2012
Waiting...waiting...waiting...we hope to receive a court date in the month of June.  A missionary returns from their trip and sends us updated pictures of our little man.

June 2012
Waiting...waiting...waiting...we find out that courts are closed from July 15-August 15....meaning our court date would have to be set pretty soon...if not, we are looking closer to school time..still waiting! :(

July 2012
Court date set for September.  I thought I would be upset if it weren't in August, but have realized that this gives me time to get my classroom set up and going the way I like and get my girls back into school routine!
